Okay this is the confusing part, people who are new to KPop would not be able to understand what subgroups are.
SO WHAT ARE SUBGROUPS?
Subgroups are smaller groups within a band that target specific music genres. In Super Junior's case, they have a total of 4 subgroups !
Super Junior KRY
This is the first subgroup of Super Junior and they singing mournful, R&B-style ballads. As the name suggests, only 3 members make up this subgroup and their initials make up KRY and they are the main vocalists of the main group namely Cho Kyuhyun, Kim Ryeowook and Kim Jong Woon / Yesung

Super Junior T
Second subgroup of Super Junior, they specialise in trot music, the oldest form of Korean pop. This group is made up of 6 members : Park Jung Soo/Leeteuk , Kim Hee Chul , Kim Young Woon/Kang In , Shin Dong Hee , Lee Sung Min and Lee Hyuk Jae/Eunhyuk

Super Junior M
Targeting the Chinese market, the third Super Junior subgroup was formed. Two more new members were added to this subgroup on top of the 5 members from Super Junior. However, the two members are NOT part of the main Super Junior. The 7 members are : Hankyung , Lee Dong Hae , Choi Si Won , Kim Ryeo Wook , Cho Kyuhyun , Zhou Mi and Henry

Super Junior H
The final subgroup of Super Junior, this group sings ontemporary dance music and bubblegum pop to target the industry with their fun and entertaining style. The 6 members in this group are : Park Jung Soo/Leeteuk , Kim Jong Woon/Yesung , Kim Young Woon/Kang In , Shin Dong Hee , Lee Sung Min and Lee Hyuk Jae/Eunhyuk

ReplyDeleteAn informative post - it's not easy to know that there are sub-groups within a group. This is quite a novel idea for a group. If you could add what you like about the group or a particular subgroup, the post would be even more interesting. Include some links within the post for readers who would like to read more about them too.
ReplyDeleteomg korean bands are so confusing haha. there are so many members in a group and idk how to differentiate which group is which. maybe i can take time to read your post thoroughly to understand world of K-pop :P well, to me, all of them look the same 0.0 BUT THEY'RE CUTE THOUGH!
